Targeta Proden comprehensive evaluation

Integral evaluation and adequacy of presses according to RD 1215/1997

Automotive
Barcelona

PRODEN GROUP has developed a comprehensive process of evaluation, design and validation of safety improvements on 8 stamping presses, located near Barcelona, in order to ensure legal compliance according to Royal Decree 1215 and the main international standards applicable to industrial equipment.

The duration of this project has been 2 years, due to the critical equipment in production, which has required a great deal of planning work.

Initial diagnosis and regulatory analysis

The project began with a technical-preventive visit in which the initial state of the equipment was reviewed, identifying limits of use and intervention procedures by the operating and maintenance personnel. Each mode of operation was thoroughly analyzed and the actual conditions of the workplace were verified, in accordance with the Law on Occupational Risk Prevention and Annex I of RD 1215/1997. Criteria of the UNE-EN ISO 12100 and EN ISO 13849-1 standards were used for the diagnosis, ensuring an objective assessment of the initial risk, including control elements, accesses, guards and energy cut-off devices.

Design of solutions and corrective measures

Based on the study, specific adaptation proposals were designed, including the installation and improvement of fixed and movable guards, complete perimeter fencing, energy blocking devices, emergency stop buttons, and signage according to ISO 7010 standards. This process was carried out taking into account ergonomic principles, protection against electrical and mechanical hazards, and prevention of untimely start-up. The design contemplated solutions that allow safe access for die change and maintenance operations, minimizing risks without compromising productivity.

Execution, validation and monitoring

Once the corrective measures had been implemented, PRODEN GROUP carried out an exhaustive verification of the effectiveness of the solutions and their compliance with the legal framework. Guards, electrical safety devices and control systems were actively validated, reducing the residual risk to negligible levels in all identified hazards. The technical validation was carried out in accordance with Annex I of RD 1215/1997 and ensuring compliance with the performance level required by EN ISO 13849-2. The entire process was documented and agreed with the client’s QHSE team, guaranteeing traceability and transparency.

Focus on continuous improvement and legality

PRODEN GROUP’s support continues beyond the initial validation, advising the customer on document management and future procedures, as well as on the updating of electrical diagrams and machine documentation to maintain legal compliance in the event of any significant modification. The proposed and validated solutions not only comply with the demanding regulations applied, but also promote a tangible improvement in industrial safety and the well-being of the human teams interacting with the press.

This project represents PRODEN GROUP’s commitment to legal and human engineering, efficiently and responsibly applied for the protection of people and compliance with requirements in demanding industrial environments.
